Our 2025 tomato seedlings will be available June 7 at both the Summerside Farmers’ Market and our farm gate. As always, we have a great selection of heirlooms adapted to our growing conditions on the Island, plus a few new varieties we’re trying this year. All varieties are open-pollinated and chemical-free.
In addition to our many tomato varieties, we also have seedlings for a selection of Herbs, Sweet Peppers and Hot Peppers.

TOMATO SEEDLINGS

Aosta Valley
Early tomato with exceptional flavour from NW Italy. Prolific clusters of 10-12 small, shiny 5-sided tomatoes ripen on the vine so the truss can be picked all at once. Excellent fresh, stewed or added to sauce. Blight resistant.

Bellstar (Canada)
Developed in 1981 in Trenton, Ontario. Red, 4 oz., round paste tomatoes much larger than most others of this type and ripening is spread over a long season. Cool season red champion, maturing much earlier than most paste tomatoes. Easy to pick compact plant with large quantities of rich-tasting delicious flavour. Great in salads, for canning or fresh eating. Farm favourite!

Black Cherry
So sweet and early! Deep burgundy 1” round fruits that grow in prolific clusters.

Black Krim
Heirloom originating from the Crimea, now occupied by Russia. Krim in a Ukrainian word from Crimea. Large 8 oz. flattened globes that are dark reddish-purple to black with green-brown shoulders. Wonderful rich flavour.

Blush
Stunning and so sweet! 2” elongated golden-pink streaked tomato with crack resistance.Ripen on or off the vine without compromising flavour. A crowd pleaser for snacking or fancy dishes.

Buckflat’s Wonder
Canadian bred by Andy Pollock of Houston BC. Hardy, blemish free, red 8- 10 oz. perfectly round tomato with a fantastic flavour. Very productive until frost.

Cosmonaut Volkov
Old Ukrainian variety renamed in honour of Russian cosmonaut who died on re-entry in 1971. Sturdy, productive, cool-weather tolerant and wins every taste test! Med - large, 10 oz. deep red, smooth globes on a 4' vine. Diverse in shape and size (flat, round, square). Even in cold summers, it produces early by mid-August and continues until frost. Excellent for sauce or fresh.

Costoluto Genovese
Beautiful, heavily-ribbed, red 4-5" fruits. Juicy, delicious and prolific!

Gartenperle
Prostrate (trailing) miniature plant producing early red cherries & carrying on non-stop until frost. Great in hanging baskets or containers.

Gilbertie
This excellent red heirloom has a long slender shape with green shoulders and slight crook at the tip. Good size with solid flesh and rich flavour with a very small seed cavity. Great for soups, sauces and grilling.

Golden Bison
A 1932 cross with the earliness and compact habit of Bison and medium-sized, smooth, mild Golden Queen. Extremely productive, blemish-free, globe-shaped, golden yellow fruit with a great sweet and mild flavour. Good for short season areas.

Goluboy Les (Blue Forest)
Rare, unique 1-2 oz. spherical fruits are deep purple and bright red inside. Rich, juicy and delicious with excellent flavour. Productive, cold hardy, withstands adverse conditions. Farm favourite.

Grightmire’s Pride
Large, early, pinkish-red fruit from Yugoslavia. Meaty, low seed, low acid fruit with good taste. Give this prolific beauty a try.

House
This rare dwarf Russian heirloom grows 1 ½ ‘tall & is covered with tasty red cherries. Grow outside in a container for the summer & bring inside by a sunny window in the fall. Prolific producer year round. Cut back for new growth in the spring. The plants can grow for years this way!

La Finquita Gold
Unique and rare heirloom golden cherry is deliciously sweet, plus low in acidity. Adapted for more than 20 years to Wallace NS area, has now taken up residence in Summerside PEI. Enjoy!

Legend
Determinate. Such a beauty and one of the earliest of all tomatoes! Dependable, productive and delicious 4-5" uniform red slicer. Strong tolerance against late blight. Very few seeds.

Mexican Red Grape
Prolific producer of tasty red grape tomatoes from Mexico. Just the perfect size and a striking bright red colour and texture.

Morden Yellow (Canada)
Bred for short season at Morden Research Station, Manitoba, in 1950. Early producer, heavy yields of bright yellow, medium-sized, round, juicy and mildly sweet tomato.

Old Brooks
Heirloom that does well in hot weather. Large, beautiful, red, perfect fruit up to 1 lb. with long vines and great, full, tangy flavour. Fruit is delicious, juicy and meaty—well-suited to home canning due to its high acidity. Resistant to blossom end rot and early/late blight.

Palestinian
This large, blocky fruit is extremely heavy and meaty. Between a big beefsteak and a paste tomato, it is equally good for slicing, canning and sauce. Great taste. Wonderful!

Pink Boar
Unique beauties. Wine coloured fruits with metallic green striping on vigorous vines. Strong plants loaded with rich, sweet, juicy fruits for slicing in salads. Adverse weather tolerance.

Pink Bumblebee
These fun and flavourful tomatoes are hard to resist. Pink round cherries with orangey/gold striping and sweet, rich flavour. Very productive, resists cracking.

Pink Portuguese
The delicious large pink beefsteak beauty was found at the Portuguese market in Loule, Algarve in 2019 and had to bring some seed back to PEI. First time growing out the saved seed. Who would like to try it?

Principe Borghese
Italian heirloom with great flavour. Bears small, 2" oval, red fruits in prolific clusters over a long season with no cracking. Used for sun-dried tomatoes as few seeds and little juice. Can be crushed for flakes or ground into powder to add rich tomato flavour to soups, salad dressings, etc. Dehydrate.

Quinte (Canada)
Early, deep red, medium-sized tomato bred by Jack Metcalfe at Smithfield Exp. Station in Trenton, Ontario, in the ’70s. Tasty fruits are juicy for fresh eating and great for canning.

Roma
Probably the best known Italian paste tomato. 2-3" plum shape with thick flesh and few seeds. Vigorous, hardy, compact determinate vines. Firm, meaty, pear shaped fruit, up to 200 per plant, thus prolific and durable. Wilt resistant. Good for sauces, pastes and canning.

Ropreco
A fine old Italian heirloom with good taste. Fruits 2-3 oz. oblong and bright red. Does not require staking as it is determinate & produces fruit in a concentrated set along with good disease resistance. Suitable for sauce and drying.

Rose de Berne
Swiss heirloom often called the “Brandywine of Europe”. Good producer of dark rose-coloured, perfect globe- shaped fruit, smooth, round with no blemishes. Thin-skinned, juicy with a zingy sweet rich flavour. Endangered.

Roughwood Golden Plum
Fabulous tomato! Beautiful, unique and delicious… a “must-grow” for anyone looking for the perfect low-acid sauce tomato. Tested as drought-resistant tomato but does fine in wet conditions too. A 1986 cross between San Marzano and Yellow Brandywine. Plump, 2-4" plum-shaped fruit with thick skins, perfectly suited as an unusual sauce tomato (keeps well on the counter for days), plus excellent for drying. Staking recommended.

San Marzano
Mid season. One of the most loved Italian paste tomatoes with great flavour and productivity on medium vines. Great for sauces, canning and drying/dehydrate.

Sonrojo Monster
Large, healthy plants with big, heart-shaped 16-24 oz. crimson pink fruit. Very meaty with excellent well-balanced tomato flavour, perfect for sauce and salsa.

Striped Cavern
Beautiful 8 oz. thick-walled fruit. This partially hollow stuffing tomato is red with yellow stripes. Good keeper and drought tolerant. Great addition to any meal.

Sweet Tumbler
Extremely early sweet, red cherry with compact, cascading stems. So great for hanging baskets or patio tubs. Grow 6-8" tall vines and loaded with fruit for such a small plant.

Tastywine
Vigorous dwarf producing 6-12 oz. pink beefsteak-size fruit with very few seeds and deliciously sweet, juicy fruit.

Ten Fingers of Naples
This Italian variety gets its name from the distinctive, 5-6" elongated, red clusters of 3 oz. fruit produced in long trusses. Excellent productive paste tomato, meaty with few seeds. Dehydrates well if sliced in eighths.

Tonodose des Conores
Rare endangered French heirloom with very dark, red sweet fruit with an orange tinge inside and a delicious lingering flavour. Very productive, large plants.

Valencia
This slicer is bursting with rich tomato flavour. It has that perfect mix of sweet and tart tomato taste. Round smooth meaty fruits with few seeds 8-10 oz. Brilliant glowing orange skin encases meaty tomato flesh and very few seeds. A family heirloom from Maine, possibly originating in Spain. Slow Food Ark of Taste.
